Compal Electronics and its mobile device subsidiary Compal Communications jointly announced that their merger date will be officially set on February 27, 2014, on which Compal Communications will be delisted from the stock exchange, as reported by the Commercial Times on November 29. Presently, Compal Electronics has acquired 90.39％ stake in Compal Communications from the open market, and is set to go through a following short form merger.

In related news, Compal Communications is to contract manufacture mid-range smartphones for HTC, including low-cost 3G smartphones powered by MediaTek's solutions for the Chinese market and mid-range LTE (Long-Term Evolution) models equipped with Qualcomm processors for the Chinese and European markets, according to the report.
